Embellish Color Challenge with Ric Rac

I thought I would love this challenge - because I love the colors.  I was surprised to find I was more "challenged" than I thought I would be.  The turquoise proved to be the sticking point until I remembered the jeweled butterfly that came with a brown swirl that I had bought.  I think it worked okay - what do you think?

Office Supplies Gift Bag

I had found a wonderful selection of coordinated paper products at Michaels that I thought would make a great gift to have on hand.  Thinking ahead, I bought one extra set of the file folders to use as the base of a matching card.  I merely cut the file folder down to the desired sizes.  You can get at least 2 cards per file folder.

I bought enough for two gifts.  The gift set includes four file folders (mixed two patterns), notepad, journal, binder clips, pencil, eraser, and paperclips.    A gift ready to go for under $10!

Chair Chat - Embellish Invitation Challenge

I don't usually do invitations but for Embellish's current challenge my mind gravitated to Papertrey Ink's (PTI) On My Couch (OMC) and Tea for Two (T42).  Both have various sentiments that could be used.  My subliminal inspiration was probably the over-stuffed chipboard chairs from Mary Engelbreit that were still on my work table from a recent rescue/purchase from the $1 bin at Michael's (gotta love those dollar bins!)

Which color to use stumped me at first.  I had PTI's Scarlet Jewel but wanted some pattern for the background of the chair.  I found the perfect paper in my stash--a sheet Scott from BlueMoon had sent along with an order last year.  Although there is an obscured script on the paper, the overall look reminds me of old worn leather or crushed velvet.  I had just received the green paper ribbon tape (Basic Grey's Oliver line) in an order from Two Peas in a Bucket Friday and thought the scale worked well with the chair.  The front became the invite--combining sentiments from PTI's OMC and OMC Additions.

Also received in that same order from Two Peas was the Basic Grey Basic Kraft paper pad that I used on the back of the invitation which had the specifics--combining sentiments and images from PTI's T42 and T42 Additions.

Although the front of the card is a fairly liberal interpretation, I think the use of the chipboard chair as an invitation is unique and interesting.  I hope you think so too!

Happy 4th - WM Sketch Challenge

This is the first time I have played along with the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge.

The card is a 5.5 inch square on white cardstock.  I started with pieces of scrap cream cardstock and stamp text in blue and red.  On one of the blues I stamped various stars with Versamark and clear heat embossed them.  On the red and blue I stamped wavy lines in Versamark and clear heat embossed them.  Then using Ranger distress inks, I inked over the text and buffed off the ink from the embossed areas.  I cut the paper into 2.25 inch squares to cover the face of the card.  I was pretty happy with the layering effects to create the pattern paper.

Next were the stars for the circle pattern.  I stamp various star patterns with Versamark on white, red, and blue cardstock embossing them with white and clear embossing powder.  I also stamped star patterns in blue and red on white cardstock.

I cut a 3.5 inch circle using a spellbinder die and stamped the 4 in blue and the Happy in red, the th is just written in red ink.

During assembly of the stars around the white circle I used different thicknesses of dimensionals to create different heights of stars.

Wplus9 - Punch Buggy!

Punch buggy seems to be the all the rage now from TV commercials to my friend's girls playing in the back seat of the car during long trips.  When I saw the green color I immediately thought of this stamp and couldn't wait to use Lime green on this VW bug inspired stamp.  The card is designed to fit a standard business envelope, #10.  I embossed it with Cuttlebug's Diamond Plate folder.

The cars were stamped with PTI's Hawaiian Shore, PTI-Orange Zest, and Colorbox- Lime.  Then mounted with dimensionals on PTI's Dark Chocolate and matted with Hawaiian Shores paper.

I added bling to the cars with clear crystals for headlights and silver pearls for fender lights.  Kudos goes to Fiskar's Compact Stamp Press which I used to first stamp the car image and then perfectly align the solid stamp which provide the color.  The cars were cut out of PTI's Stampers Select White using the Enjoy the Ride Car die.

The Punch Buggy sentiment is stamped with Just Rite's Times New Roman font and then white heat embossed.

To jazz up the inside, which I was reminded to do by iEmbellish recent posts, I adhered PTI's Orange Zest cardstock and stamped the car image in Versamark and then stamped the sentiment.  The car image and inside sentiment are from PTI's Enjoy the Ride set.

Thinking of You

We recently had a great aunt come home from an extended hospital stay.  We wanted to send her a card and combined several great ideas to create this "Thinking of You" card.

We found inspiration from PTI's June release blogs featuring the Tea for Two Additions stamp set.  Also, a recent Clean and Simple posting provided color inspiration.

Here is a close up of the felt flower and the interior sentiment.

We also stamped a pair of spoons in Oasis Green on the front of the envelop and then, using PTI's die, cut a Tea Time tag in Kraft, stamped it in the Dark Chocolate, and ran it through the Zyron machine to create a sticker to seal the envelop.  Sorry, we forgot to take photos of those but take our word for it, it was TEA-rrific!!

We hope that our Aunt and YOU enjoy this card.

Hopping with PTI

My favorite color scheme is VINTAGE CREAM, PURE POPPY, SUMMER SUNRISE, ORANGE ZEST, AND GREY (or at least one of my favorite combos).  I recently found this wonderful sheet of paper on clearance at a big box store and immediately found it inspiring.  The colors work so well together yet are a very unusual combination.  The paper was Marmalade from the Basic Grey's Ambrosia collection.

I thought the sentiment was perfect for tonight's blog since it was all about your favorites--which I always find INSPIRING!
