Papertrey October Blog Hop Challenge

Everyone celebrates the new year in their own manner - whether it's party hardy the night before or a football bowl fest the day of.  These cards will help anyone ring in the new year with a smile.

We recently saw a blog entry from Kristina Werner where she had purchased a "cut" card with a wonderful sentiment (see her post here) and from that we took our inspiration.  I sketched the ideas and Jessica built the SCAL file that we cut on our Cricut.  If you are interested in the .scut file we will be glad to share it - just leave a comment on the blog.

Here's a couple of shots of the individual cards.  We totally scraplifted Nichole's use of Scor-tape and glitter.

Thanks for hopping by, Monica and Jessica

Two in One: CQC #53 and TESC131

ColourQ #53 Challenge Combined with Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #131

Wow--I finally got smart and combined challenges.  I loved the colors in ColourQ Challenge #53 (here), utilizing orange, green, two shades of blue and white.

I immediately knew the DCWV's Citrus paper would work perfectly for this challenge.  However, I often struggle with the layout.  I turned to Taylored Expressions and used the most current sketch challenge (here) for my inspiration.  Do you know they have an entire catalog of former sketch challenges that is a great resource!

Here's what I created.

I used Taylored Expressions Take Note stamp set and die that I picked up at CHA this summer to make the focal image and used one of the sentiments from Verve Stamps Dream Big.  Here is an up close look at the centerpiece:

I like to finish the envelop with a coordinated liner using PTI's A2 envelop liner die.  What a useful tool!

I really enjoyed combining these two challenges and have pulled papers together to make a set of cards inspired by both!  They will make a great hostess gift or a wonderful addition to my card stash!

Thanks for stopping by the blog---hope you enjoyed what you saw!

Embellish Color Challenge using Background Stamping - Take Three

I wanted to do a second take on this challenge.  I struggled to incorporate the yellow in my first entry so I wanted to try to add more with this response.  I started with a couple of different pieces of yellow paper and pulled out the PTI Take Three Summer stamp set and went to work.  I enjoyed the results; I hope you do too!!

Thanks for checking out my post...Monica

Supplies:
Paper:  PTI-True Black, Stampers White, and Lemon Tart; SU--Basic Grey and Going Grey; PP--DCWV Citrus
Stamps:  PTI's Background Basics: Text Style, Take Three Summer, and Communique Curves (sentiment)
Ink:  SU Going Grey and Versafine Black Onyx
Other:  PTI eyelet die; Spellbinders long rectangle die, and PrimaMarketing black crystals

Embellish Color Challenge using Background Stamping - Wishing You Happiness

The stamped background component of the challenge inspired me to pull out my PTI Guidelines II stamps and coordinating paper.  Here is what I came up with - hope you like it.

After stamping the background in different combination (all black or black and gray), I misted in various shades (left to right):  1 - Tsukineko's Sheer Shimmer Spritz in Frost, 2 - Perfect Pearls in Pewter, and 3 was left plain.  The background I used on the card was misted with Tsukineko's Sheer Shimmer Spritz in Sparkle.  Not sure if you can see it in this photo but it looks pretty yet subtle in person.

I dressed up the inside of the card and provided a coordinated envelop with liner.

Thanks for checking out my challenge entry.
